How many Rangers were KIA during Somalia?

Six Rangers were killed in action in the Somalia operation. This count comes from the well-documented casualty figures for Operation Gothic Serpent, the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993. Rangers from the 75th Ranger Regiment were heavily involved in the firefights around the downed helicopters, and six of them lost their lives in action. The overall U.S. death toll for that mission was eighteen, with two soldiers from Delta Force also KIA, and the rest coming from other units. That breakdown is why six is the specific Ranger KIA figure, rather than the other numbers.
